Today’s Wine Adventure was inspired by the fact that we were grilling turkey burgers and the suggested wine pairing is Pinot Noir, but I am all out of Pinot Noir so I used Gamay instead.

The wine is Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages 2017 – Gamay from the Beaujolais region of Burgundy, France. Like Pinot Noir – Gamay is a low tannin, light bodied red wine. Gamay just happens to be Pinot Noir’s cousin and that’s close enough for me!

As for the turkey burgers – I took the easy way out. I bought them from the freezer section of the grocery store so no preparation necessary. They didn’t taste bad at all! I think the secret to preparing a good turkey burger is to pair it with a good wine.

If you like Pinot Noir – you should give Gamay a try. Cheers!
